Words about
A Basotho Factory

Afri-Expo Textiles (Pty) Ltd is a privately held, 100% Basotho owned textile manufacturing Company registered under the laws of the Kingdom of Lesotho. The company is under directorship of Three Directors (Indigenous Basotho experienced in different fields).

Afri-Expo Textiles (Pty) Ltd was registered in Lesotho in 2011, with the aim of increasing local entrepreneur participation in the manufacturing sector. While our primary targeted market outlet is international buyers, we have seen the impact that our current US export focus had on both investment and buying power, with the global financial crisis. We therefore intend to diversify to the regional market, and explore the local market.

We have hired 300 Basotho workers hailing from 10 different districts, A team of 7 Basotho supervisors, 3 Administrators, 3 Foreign sewing experts (Trainers), 1 sewing machine machanic (Foreign) and 1 cutting specialist(Foreign).

What People
Say
About Us

Afri-Expo might look like any other textile company in Lesotho but there is something different about it. What makes it unique is its ownership. At the last count Lesotho had just over 60 textile factories, producing for local, regional and international markets.

Afri-Expo is the only textile factory wholly owned by locals. South Africans control a handful but the bulk are owned by Taiwanese who have dominated the textile sector since it started in Lesotho in the late 1980s.
